Dental Implants
Dental implants offer a reliable, clinically proven solution for replacing missing teeth. Designed to look and function like natural teeth, they help restore long-term oral health, stability and confidence for patients near Market Harborough
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a small medical-grade titanium or zirconia post placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Over time, the implant integrates with the bone, creating a stable foundation for a custom-made crown. This process is supported by decades of clinical research and is widely recognised as the gold standard for long-term tooth replacement.
Once healed, the implant is restored with a bespoke porcelain crown designed to blend naturally with neighbouring teeth in both shape and shade. Implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, support multiple teeth as part of a bridge, or provide secure anchorage for dentures.
The science behind dental implants is very impressive and it is the gold standard in tooth replacement.
Why should I replace missing teeth?
Restoring the form and function of your dentition is desirable for several reasons. Replacing missing teeth will ensure there is less force being distributed on your remaining natural teeth, increasing their lifespan and will help to stop existing teeth from drifting. Increasing the number of teeth you have will also improve your ability to eat, which will significantly improve your quality of life. Implants can also massively improve your smile, filling any unsightly spaces. Speak to our dental implant specialists near Market Harborough to find out more today.

Frequently Asked Questions
We are often asked many questions associated with our treatment, and the questions listed below form a selection of the most frequently asked. If you have any questions which do not appear in this list, please contact us.
Dental Implants are placed in your dental surgery in familiar and relaxed surroundings. The treatment itself is carried out under local anaesthetic and is pain free, once you are numb. After the treatment there can be some pain, like any surgical procedure in the mouth. We would usually recommend over the counter painkillers for a few days following the implant placement.
The length of the implant process, like most dental treatment, depends on the case. There are a few factors that will influence the time it takes for a dental implant to be placed and then restored, these can be the level and quality of the bone available and the aesthetic demands.
The implant placement itself usually takes around 90 minutes; this can vary depending on whether a bone graft is required.
Usually once an implant has been placed it will need to be covered under your gum for a period of 8-12 weeks whilst it integrates with your bone. During this time, in certain circumstances a temporary crown or bridge can be placed so that you have a tooth in place whilst the implant is integrating with the bone. In some cases, an immediate implant placement can be carried out following a tooth extraction.
The process is always tailor made for each patient, and we will therefore discuss your individual case with you at your consultation appointment so you will have an accurate idea of your personal treatment plan.
During the planning process in implant dentistry, we will take xrays and possibly a CT scan (a 3D xray), if we find that your bone level or quality is not sufficient for implant placement it can be possible to carry out a bone graft or sinus lift.
The bone used can be from the human tissue bank, freeze dried animal bone or a synthetic bone replacement. More uncommonly, bone can be taken from another part of your jaw and used in the graft.
Although dental implants are usually the gold standard in tooth replacement, they will not be suitable for everyone. The alternatives would be removable dentures or a fixed bridge. These alternatives can be discussed with you at your consultation appointment.
With good oral hygiene, regular dental exams and healthy gums, implants can offer a long-term solution. Longevity varies for each patient and depends on lifestyle, medical history, maintenance and implant care.
In many cases, yes. Implants can support bridges or stabilise dentures, which means fewer implants may be needed to restore multiple missing teeth.
